On behalf of the Standing Committee of the People’s Council of Thua Thien Hue province, Vice Permanent Chairman Nguyen Quang Tuan expressed his pleasure to have a chance to work with Salavan province’s delegation; briefly provided local socio-economic information in the first 10 months of 2024. The leader of Thua Thien Hue province emphasized content regarding to developing Thua Thien Hue into a centrally-governed city.

Regards to activities of the People’s Council, Vice Permanent Chairman of the provincial People’s Council Nguyen Quang Tuan kindly informed that the People’s Council of Thua Thien Hue province has successfully held 27 meetings and approved 560 resolutions.

The two sides would continue to maintain meetings of provincial leaders and relevant departments and agencies. In late 2022, leaders of the two provinces signed the cooperation agreement in 2022-2026 period. The traditional fruitful friendship is maintained in various ways.

In addition, Thua Thien Hue province provided investment grant for construction while Salavan supported, created favorable conditions to find and gather the remains of martyrs, Vietnamese voluntary soldiers and experts who lost their lives in Salavan. Positive results were also observed in education, human resource training, healthcare and cultural affairs.

Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman of the People’s Council of Salavan province Mr. Sy Heng - Hom Som Bat provided socio-economic information and activities of the People’s Council of Salavan province; expressed his pleasure to observe the friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam strengthened and grown. The representative of Salavan province highly appreciated the bilateral sustainable relation and the fact that the People’s Council of the two provinces have regularly exchanged lessons learned on fields that both sides have an interest on.

The People’s Council of Salavan province agreed with suggestions on cooperation agreement between the two provinces, expected the People’s Council of Thua Thien Hue province to support the People’s Council of Salavan province in variety of fields.

At the meeting, the two sides reached an agreement to share, exchange experience in terms of People’s Council affairs; continue to carry out the agreement signed in 2022; accelerate cooperation in politics and foreign affairs; enhance the bilateral cooperation; have an investment policy to complete the twenty-two-kilometer-long road from A Kong junction (Salavan province) to Hong Van - Co Tai border gate; accelerate and diversify trade promotion activities, logistics on the economic corridor crossing Chan May - Lang Co sea port; study to diversify goods to export to Salavan and vice versa.
