Chairman Nguyen Van Phuong receives the Consul General of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland
  
(TTH Portals) - On October 30, the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue province Nguyen Van Phuong had a meeting with Ms. Alex Smith, the Consul General of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland to Vietnam. Leaders of relevant departments and agencies attended the meeting.

Discussing with provincial leader, Ms. Alex Smith exchanged information about the priorities, main projects calling for investment, solutions to improve the cooperative relation between the United Kingdom and Thua Thien Hue in education and trade. The Consul General also extended sincere thank to leaders of Thua Thien Hue province for the warm welcome and showed her impression on Hue city. Ms. Alex Smith believed that the province would further grow in the coming time as it becomes a centrally governed city. 

As informed by Ms. Alex Smith, the delegation from the Consulate General of United Kingdom and Northern Ireland to Vietnam visited Hue University, had a meeting with leaders of Hue University, attended an event held at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy where they met New Borns Vietnam, a UK-registered NGO. On this occasion, the delegation attended the memorandum of understanding signing ceremony between ACCA and Hue University of Economics. The Consul General made commitment to support Thua Thien Hue in local strong fields.

At the meeting, Chairman Nguyen Van Phuong provided information regarding to socio-economic affairs, potentials and development orientation in the coming time. The provincial leader extended sincere thank for the effective cooperation in the past time; affirmed the expectation for cooperative and friendly cooperation with the Consulate General and the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland partners in local strong fields.

Particularly, Chairman hoped that the Consul General would introduce investors to invest in local potential projects such as processing and manufacturing industry, environmental treatment, financial services, education, healthcare; provide information and connect Hue University to develop cooperative programs.

Regards to culture, Chairman hoped to welcome art troupes to Hue Festival to strengthen the cooperative relation, introduce Hue culture and Vietnamese culture to United Kingdom and Northern Ireland.
