Le Van clan’s ancestral house is a typical art architecture which is highly appreciated in traditional wooden architecture and reflected Hue ruong house. The clan ancestral house features the shape, fine-art skill, typical decorative objects under Nguyen dynasty in the 19 century. Le Van clan’s ancestral house is home to many precious artifacts such as Sino-Vietnamese documents written under Le So dynasty, Le Nhan Tong (1451) and offering objects. Particularly, wooden carving works showed the growth of traditional crafts in the area. Thanks to its size and art value, this ancestral house has become a priceless symbol for the clan and My Xuyen village as well as the pride of Thua Thien Hue province.
The ancestral house symbolizes the power and cultural life of a clan. It is also the place where members of the community gathered together during founding the new village in the early days. Therefore, the solidarity among members was promoted and maintained as a local traditional lifestyle for over hundreds of years.
Clan ancestral house reflects the close relation in architectures constructed under Nguyen dynasty. Therefore, it is important to study, promote values and preserve relics to protect national traditional cultural values in the age of modernization and from changes of society and culture.
Le Van clan’s ancestral house was recognized as a province-level relic on Decision No. 2468/QD-UBND dated October 29, 2008 of the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue province.
