Thanh Binh Tu Duong is the place of worship of traditional Tuong singing art in Hue ancient capital.
Thanh Binh Tu Duong was constructed under the reign of Emperor Minh Mang in 1824. It is devoted to worship of Thanh Su, Tien Su, To Su and those contributing to the theater in Hue and Central region.
Thanh Binh Tu Duong has three compartments, two wings, brick walls and wooden roof covered with yin-yang tiles. The wooden frame was simply decorated. Thanh Binh Tu Duong was renovated and repaired in 1958, 1992 and 2000.
The gate is 2.85m wide and 3.2m high. There are two pillars. Each is 3.8 m high and decorated with a 0.45m high wine gourd on top. The frontage of the entire relic is surrounded by wall. Behind the gate locates a 660m2 yard where Tuong performances used to be held. A stele erected in 1825 was placed on the left while a cement stele on which names of those contributing to relic’s renovation in 1958 is situated on the right. A large glided horizontal plaque made in 1853 with its name carved is placed in front on the door. In addition, there are valuable artifacts still can be found at Thanh Binh Tu Dong, for example “Gia pha tu duong” and other writings regarding to bestowing titles under the reign of Emperor Minh Mang.
Thanh Binh Tu Duong was recognized as a national historical relic on Decision No. 776QD/VH dated June 23, 1992 of the Ministry of Culture and Information (today Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism).
