Hien Sy is one of the villages early founded in Thuan Hoa. Over ups and downs, the village still preserves Vietnamese cultural features. The communal house plays an important role in villagers. It is the place for villagers to pay tribute to ancestors who established and protected the country. Residents not only come to pray for their ancestors and happiness, but also gather together for village’s cultural activities. It connects present and the past as well as creates a close-knit relation between villagers and the community. In addition to festivals, activities associated with “Uong nuoc nho nguon”, “An qua nho nguoi trong cay” were held at the communal house every year.
During struggling for national liberation and unification, this place marked important revolutionary events for not only villagers, but also Phong Dien people. Hien Sy communal house was the place where “Thanh nien Song Bo” team gathered excellent youths who participated in patriotist activities. They later became important force in the revolution in Phong Dien district and Thua Thien Hue province. It was at Hien Sy communal house that “Viet Minh Truong Son” was founded on Phong Dien district’s Party officers meeting occasion. This milestone marked a new chapter in the revolution in Phong Dien district in particular and Thua Thien Hue province in general. During the struggle against French colonialism and American Imperialism, bodies of provincial Resistance Committee stayed at Hien Sy communal house before moving to Hoa My battlefield. This place witnesses the fight for peace and independence, therefore, it is an irreplaceable part in local revolution.
It is said that Hien Sy communal house maintains material cultural values, spiritual cultural values, tradition, typical revolutionary and historical events of Phong Son commune, Phong Dien district in particular and Thua Thien Hue province in particular. There, young generations can learn more about patriotism and bravery of ancestors; become responsible in maintaining and promoting historical values, traditional culture; stay united to create and protect a happy life and prosperous home land.
Hien Sy communal house was ranked as province-level historical relic on Decision No. 411/QD-UBND dated 26/02/2015.
