Location: National art and architecture relic, Tra Co village hall and adjacent area of Tra Co tourism site (Tra Co ward, Mong Cai city, Quang Ninh province).
This year, the festival is divided into two parts including the ritual ceremonies and the festival section. The first part consists of ritual ceremonies such as “Moc duc” ceremony, “Thinh sinh” ceremony, opening ceremony, “Nghenh than” ceremony, “an vi” ceremony, etc. Particularly, the procession of the Gods is held on the thirtieth day of the fifth lunar month while the offering of locals and visitors is taken place on the first day of the sixth lunar month. The festival section of Tra Co Temple Festival comprises cultural performances, calligraphy writing along some fun games such as tug of war, stilts, and volleyball.
Especially, the unique feature of the festival is the annually held procession of "Mr. Elephant" (male pigs which are carefully taken care of and considered as the god, and therefore called “Mr. elephant”). In addition, "Mr. Elephant" contest, a unique event shows the dream of a happy life and success for locals as well as highlights a spiritual cultural beauty, a long-lasting ceremony held to pay tribute to village founders.
