Cho Xep (Xep market) was founded in late XIX century. At the beginning of XX century, Dong Ba market was moved to today location. At first, Xep market was the place where locals found daily necessities such as rice, salt, fruit, etc. As its name suggests, "Xep market" was a small market located at the last alley of the rows of barraks (Mai Thuc Loan - Ngo Duc Ke junction today).
During the time President Ho Chi Minh and his family lived at 47 Mai Thuc Loan street (1906 - 1909), he helped his father with the housework and often went to the market. Therefore, Xep market was an unforgettable memory for President Ho Chi Minh.
Nowadays, Xep market is no longer located in its original location and keeps its size.
