Am Ba was built to worship Thien-Y-A-Na goddess. This is one of the Vietnamese "Mother Goddess" religions and a combination of Vietnamese Mother Goddess Lieu Hanh and Cham Mother Goddess Ponagar. Am Ba was constructed in XV century. At the time, the ancestor of Pho Lo and Pho An village founded the village and built a shrine to worship their patron deity.
During the time President Ho Chi Minh lived in Duong No village with his father and elder brother (1898-1900), he often visited and studied in Am Ba shrine.
