(TTH Portals) - On September 13, 2024, the Techfest in North Central and Central Coast 2024 themed “Lien ket vung thuc day khoi nghiep sang tao, phat trien ben vung” (regional linkage accelerates innovation, start-up and sustainable development) was kicked off in Hue city by Ministry of Science and Technology.
Held in two days (September 12 to September 13, 2024), the event brought together many meaningful activities such as the workshop themed “Ket noi nguon luc, thuc day khoi nghiep sang tao, phat trien cac nganh kinh te - xa hoi khu vuc Bac Trung Bo và duyen hai mien Trung” (Connect resources, accelerate start-up, innovation and socio-economic development in North Central and Central Coast); policy exchange and investment connection seminar; workshop on “Nang cao nang luc hap thu cong nghe cua doanh nghiep - dong luc tang truong, phat trien kinh te - xa hoi dia phuong” (Enhance the technology absorption capacity of businesses - the motivation for local socio-economic growth); the workshop themed “Tham van co che, chinh sach thuc day moi truong phap ly ho tro doi moi sang tao, khoi nghiep sang ta” (Advising on mechanisms and policies on accelerating regulatory environment for innovation and start-up); exhibition on science-technology products, innovation and start-up.
At the TechFest Hue 2024, the organizer showcases science and technology products/services, start-up products to advertise and connect consumers, managers, scientists and startup community. In this attempt, it is expected to contribute to accelerating development and expanding their market in the coming time. On this basis, innovative investment activities are promoted, which enhances the technology absorption of businesses, accelerates socio-economic growth in North Central and Central Coast.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Ministry Hoang Minh kindly informed that problems are addressed despite of considerable results achieved in start-up and innovation such as not strong enough regional linkage and cooperation; limited resources, particularly investment, finance, expert, technology from other regions both in Vietnam and foreign countries; inadequate participation of researching areas and universities in start-up ecosystem. In addition, international cooperation fails to fully exploit regional strengths while innovative and start-up businesses are operating moderately.
The Prime Minister kindly requested localities to further cooperate with initiatives and activities associated with North Central and Central Coast; create favorable condition to move resources, exploit local potentials to science, technology, innovation and start-up. Ministry of Science and Technology made commitment to accompany, encourage Thua Thien Hue and localities so that they could make further contribution to science, technology, innovation, socio-economic development of the locality, region and the entire country.

According to Vice chairman of the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue province Nguyen Thanh Binh, innovation and start-up is an important motivation in national growth, particularly in the age of globalization, international integration and the fourth industrial revolution. The government, Ministry of Science and Technology paid special attention, issued and adopted policies on supporting and encouraging start-up and innovation.
Vice chairman of the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue province Nguyen Thanh Binh hoped that local innovation and start up system will further develop; join hand with Danang city to develop a national center for start-up and innovation; become country-wide major center for science and technology; become a destination which attracts start-up, innovation, domestic and foreign businesses to seek for cooperation and investment opportunities as guided by the Prime Minister on Decision No. 376/QD-TTg dated May 4, 2024 on approving the planning of North Central and Central Coast in 2021-2030 period, vision to 2050.
