On December 13, 2024, Thua Thien Hue Border Guard Command and Sekong Border Guard Command conducted a joint patrol in Vietnam - Laos border. Colonel Hoang Minh Hung - the Commander of Thua Thien Hue Border Guard Command and Colonel Som Chit Ni La Phon, the Political commissar of Sekong province’s Border Guard attended and chaired the event.

The Border Guard team of Thua Thien Hue province was headed by Lieutenant colonel Tran Minh Toan, the Deputy Commander, Chief of the staff while Sekong Border Guard team was led by colonel Lot Nan Tha Vong, Deputy Commander, Chief of the staff.

At the border marker No. 666, the two sides performed steps in accordance with diplomatic regulation as planned despite unfavorable weather condition.

After holding ceremony at the border marker No. 666, the two sides together conducted patrol from border marker No. 666 to border marker No. 667.

This practical activity jointly held by the border guard forces of the two provinces is expected to promote activities on the 80th anniversary of Vietnamese Military Day, the 35th anniversary of the people’s border defense day and the 60th anniversary of Thua Thien Hue’s border guard traditional day.
