Since 1860, conical hat making has been the main means of livelihood of generations of villagers. Nowadays, about 80% of locals still make conical hat during post-harvest period.
There are many kinds of conical hats, for example, white one-layer hat, green two-layer hat, green three-layer hat, hats decorated with poem, flowers, leaves, etc. Ms. Le Thi Cuc, Ms. Le Thi Ngoc and Ms. Le Thi Yen are typical artisans of this conical hat-making village.

Although nón bài thơ (literally: poem conical hat) is no longer a popular accessory for girls, it is still a perfect souvenir for domestic and foreign tourists coming to Hue. Therefore, My Lam conical hat making has unceasingly developed. With about 500 regular makers, My Lam provides over 1.000 products a day to the market.
