Pursuant to the conclusion No. 145/TB-UBND dated June 17, 2024 of the Chairman of the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue province at the meeting on reporting the plan on investing in infrastructure and managing bicycle system in Hue city, the People’s Committee of Hue city issued a plan on piloting cycling zone on Ong Ich Khiem and Le Huan junction - Le Huan street - 23/8 street - Doan Thi Diem street - Dang Thai Than street - Le Huan street from 6:30 AM to 7:30 AM, every Sunday from August 25, 2024 to October 6, 2024.
Cycling will contribute to supporting tourism activities, introducing destination and protecting the environment.
Cycling zone will be piloted on Le Huan street - 23/8 street - Doan Thi Diem street - Dang Thai Than street
This activity aims to develop an effective, safe and friendly transport system; reduce gas emission and air pollution; turn Hue into the first cycling city in Vietnam; develop cycling as a green and safe means of transport; conserve and protect tourism site; develop Hue as a green, friendly and safe city; turn cycling into a regular activity; spread cycling movement to every Hue citizen; protect the environment, improve health and expand this movement to other area. In addition, it is expected to encourage the community, locals and visitors to support public sport activities to enhance public health and develop a green - clean - bright city.
It is believed to further introduce cycling and green transport; increase the percentage of locals and visitors using environmental friendly means of transport in Hue city, make contribution to developing Hue city into the first cycling city in the world in the near future.
