Am Hon Shrine

Address: Mai Thuc Loan - Le Thanh Tong intersection, Thuan Loc ward, Hue city, Thua Thien Hue province When French had Hue streets planned and adjusted in 1895, the remains of hundreds of people passed away in the Fall of Hue Citadel (July 5, 1885) were found in Citadel, especially Phu Van lake (today Am Hon Shrine). To commemorate those who lost their lives for nation, people contributed to constructing Am Hon Shrine (Shrine for The Death). Every year, the grand offering ceremony is solemnly held in accordance with Hue traditional rituals on May 23rd.

 The Shrine was built during the time President Ho Chi Minh lived in Dong Ba street, Hue city (112 Mai Thuc Loan street today). Memory of the citadel fall event are still clear in locals' mind. Uncle Ho (known as Nguyen Sinh cung at the time) visited the shrine, attended ceremonies, shared the loss and expressed anger to the cruelty of the enemy.
