Kim Phung Mount also called Thuong Son, Thien Duu, "hon Don" or "hon Dun" was situated in Hai Cat village, Huong Tho commune, Hue city.

Kim Phung Mount was carved on Chuong urn which is placed in Hue Citadel. The Empress Pham of Emperor Quang Trung was buried in this mount. It was also the place where Hue city's Party Committee and ministerial guarding station based in Mau Than 1968 General Uprising. With the altitude of 427m, Kim Phung was known as the highest mountain in Hue city.

There is a well whose water is crystal clear on Kim Phung Mount. It becomes shallow in dry season. A small Buddha statute, Thuong Mountain's god and incense burners can be found on Kim Phung Mount. In front of the Buddha statue, there is a spacious space which is ideal for camping. The entire Hue city and the Huong river can be observed from Kim Phung Mount.

Standing on Kim Phung Mount, visitors can recognize the entrance gate's pillars of Gia Long tomb to the south - east, Minh Mang tomb, Tuan bridge and Guanyin statue on Tu Tuong Mount to the east. To the right of Tuan bridge locates Bang Lang junction where Ta Trach and Huu Trach river joined, forming the Huong river.

Visitors can travel to Kim Phung Mount in several ways. However, the most time-saving way is to start from Tuan bridge to Khe Phen, a quarry site.

The way to Kim Phung Mount is quite far and risky. Its vegetation still retains its original wild beauty.    

 Kim Phung Mount’s humid environmental condition creates favorable condition for not only trees, but also other kinds of shrubs to grow. Carnivorous plants like pitcher plant can be found along streams, shrubs of rose myrtle, etc.
