On January 10, a Conference on Thua Thien Hue Tourism Promotion in 2011 was held in Hanoi by Thua Thien Hue Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The conference witnessed the participation of over 200 delegates, including representatives of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Embassies of Asean-Pacific countries, over 80 domestic and foreign tour operators, and over 20 press offices.
The Conference took place with activities as follows: an announcement of Thua Thien Hue key cultural and tourism programs in 2011, an exhibition with prominent images of Thua Thien Hue tourism, a release of tourism products, exchanges and discussion, etc. This is the kick-off activity of Thua Thien Hue tourism promotion and communications campaign in 2011 in order to further promote Thua Thien Hue tourism destination, a range of new competitive products, preparation events for the National Tourism Year 2012 hosted by Thua Thien Hue, and the Hue Traditional Crafts Festival 2011 entitled “Vietnamese Gastronomy in the Tranquility of Hue’s Gardens”.
In 2011, one of the key activities of Thua Thien Hue tourism is to focus on upgrading and developing products diversifiedly and differently. Accordingly, the province will focus on developing four ranges of competitive products associating with cultural heritage under the Nguyen Dynasty, Hue pagodas, Hue garden houses, Hue gastronomy, traditional crafts, Hue discovery at night, culture of A Luoi ethnic people, etc. Besides, there are inter-regional tourism products such as heritage itinerary in the Central Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh route, memory of old battlefields, etc. Other programs, i.e.: tourism stimulation, preparations for the National Tourism Year 2012, investment promotion, etc. will be synchronizedly carried out aiming at mobilizing all resources to speed up the development rate of the key tourism industry and to contribute positively to making Thua Thien Hue a city directly under the Central soon.
