An Cuu market is located on An Cuu river bank, at the corner of Phan Dinh Phung and Hung Vuong street. As the market lies on one of the horizontal axes which is perpendicular to Huong river, it was once called Duong Ngang market.
An Cuu market was founded near An Cuu river - An Cuu village, Huong Tra district (today Phu Hoi ward, Hue city) under Emperor Minh Mang's reign. Today, it is still a bustling market in the south of Hue city.
As the French army headquarter was located nearby, Dong Ba market was moved to today location.
