On May 30, 2024, the Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue province Phan Quy Phuong had a meeting with the delegation from Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency led by Mr. Robert de Waha - the chief representative of Lux-Dev in Vietnam and Laos.
Mr. Robert de Waha kindly informed that the delegation wishes to cooperate with Thua Thien Hue province to carry out on-going projects.
Since 2007, Luxembourg has sponsored 04 non-refundable projects in Thua Thien Hue province with the total grant of about 17 million Euro. In 2017-2022 period, NAMA - an energy-efficient lighting system in Hue - VIE/401 was implemented to reduce green gas emission, save energy by replacing traditional lights with LED lights in public places in Hue city. The total grant is 2,2 million Euro including 2 million euro non-refundable aid and 0.2 million Euro counterpart capital.
Mr. Robert de Waha highly appreciated the support of the province, which contributes to the effective implementation of projects in the province. Regards to projects carried out in 2024 to accelerate smart agriculture, climate change adaptation and resilience in Thua Thien Hue province, Mr. Robert de Waha expected to be supported by departments, localities, provincial leaders to ensure the progress, effectiveness and purposes of projects.

Vice Chairman extended sincere thank to Luxembourg government for the support given to Thua Thien Hue province in the past time. Projects carried out in the province have a great impact on rural economy such as improving the capacity for dealing with and adapting to climate change of technical infrastructure, social infrastructure; expand and carry out models adapted to climate change; enhance the capacity for small and medium-sized businesses in various fields such as tourism, business management; make important contribution to poverty alleviation and socio-economic development.
Thua Thien Hue province wishes to cooperate with Luxembourg partners to effectively carry out green finance strategy that the two countries established in 2023, making contribution to strengthening the bilateral relation and sustainable economic development. Vice Chairman Phan Quy Phuong kindly requested Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency to support the progress of project Vie039; cooperate with the province in adapting and minimizing the impact of climate change.
