In 2022, the total population of Thua Thien Hue province is 1.153.795 including

The total number of labor aged > 15 years is 624.812 habitants including 324.518 males and 296.294 females.

VIII. Traffic
1. Road
Entire province has 2.500 km road, 1A national road cross the province from North to South. Provincial roads namely 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8A, 8B, 10A, 10B, 10C, 11A, 11B, 15 and others also cross the province.
Besides, 49A national way connects mountainous and coastal regions from west to east. 49B national way runs across other coastal and lagoon areas. National roads namely 14, 14B, 14C and 49 run across midland and western mountainous area (A Luoi and An Dong district)
Data regarding transportation infrastructure: 80% asphalt road, 70% concreted road in rural area (district and communes) , 100% automobile accessing commune s.
2. Maritime and water way
Total length of 563km inland waterway and lagoon Thua Thien Hue has Chan May deep sea port and Thuan An sea port. Thuan An sea port is about 13km to the Northeast of Hue city. For years, province has focused on investing in constructing 5 150m-long piers in Thuan An sea port. Thuan An sea port is capable of receiving 1.000 ton boats and was recognized as national sea port. Located about 49km from Hue city, Chan May deep sea port is having its very firs technical categories constructed to exploit advantage in terms of trans North-South traffic axis and East-West corridor to motivate economic development in the coming years.
3. Rail-way
101,2 km trans North-South railway runs across Thua Thien Hue province plays an important role in local transportation.
4. Airway
Thua Thien Hue is home to Phu Bai international airport located in 1A national way. It is about 15km to the South of Hue city. In recent years, Phu Bai Airport infrastructure has had considerable changes which enable airplanes namely Airbus A320 and Boeing 747 operate safely.
IX. Industrial infrastructure
(Pursuant to Decision No. 2853/QD-UBND dated December 31, 2014 of the People's Committee of province on approving the proposal of Modified Industrial Development Planning of Thua Thien Hue province to 2020, orientation to 2030).
Based on its strengths, Thua Thien Hue economy has had comparatively comprehensive developments in recent years. At present, the People's Committee of province approved the proposal of Modified Industrial Development Planning of Thua Thien Hue province to 2020, orientation to 2030). Accordingly, Thua Thien Hue will have many incentive policies to attract investors to Industrial zones, economic zones and industrial cluster in province.
a) Economic zone:
Invest in constructing essential infrastructure for Chan May - Lang Co economic zone, A Dot border gate economic zone to call for and promote investment. Herein:
Chan May - Lang Co economic zone: invest in developing industrial zone and logistic services zone (540 hectares) and high-tech industrial zone in Chan May - Lang Co economic zone, (400 hectares); arrange factories for high-tech production, biotechnology; develop clean industries, high-tech industry to attract key industrial projects which motivate the development of local economy. After 2020, Chan May - Lang Co economic zone makes effort to become core economic zone of ThuaThien Hue.
- A Dot border gate economic zone: develop Huong Lam economic zone (140 hectares), focus on fields such as processing agricultural and forestry products, minerals, construction materials, garment, textile, leather shoes and other industries; connect with developing a multi-sectoral border gate economy and international trade gate with Laos.
b) Industrial zones:
Form functional industrial zones, giving the priority to attracting investment in main sectors and products at industrial zones in accordance with its function. In detail,
- Phu Bai industrial zone stage 1, 2, 3 and 4: invest high tech sector, information technology, clean industry, auxiliary industry, automobile and motor assembly, beverage; auxiliary industry for garment and textile field, ect.
- Tu Ha industrial zone: give the priority to clean industry, auxiliary industry, electricity and electronic industry, textile, garment, leather shoes, mechanism; not develop construction material industry which are inappropriate with neighborhood and have pollution danger.
- Phong Dien industrial zone: give the priority to sectors imbued with silicate material; produce construction material; agricultural and forestry product procession; textile - dying - garment industry, fashion garment industry, auxiliary industry serving textile and garment. B section and B expanded section (147 ha) are used for quartz and silicate processing industry.
- La Son industrial zone: processing industry of minerals (titan, zircon, etc), forestry products (wooden products), mechanical manufacture, electronics, etc.
- Quang Vinh Industrial zone: - Seafood and agricultural product procession industries; textile - dying industry, textile and garment industry; fishery facilities production.
- Phu Da industrial zone: process aquaculture, livestock and poultry feeding; process seafood, agricultural products; garment, electronic industry, household electronic appliances and other industries.
c) Industrial clusters:
Develop main industrial clusters to meet relocation demand of manufacture units located in resident areas; investment projects on manufacturing processing industry of agricultural, forestry, seafood, craft and traditional industries; small projects imbued with local materials and workforce.
