Address: Hien Luong village, Phong Hien commune, Phong Dien district, Thua Thien Hue province, about 21km from Hue city center.
Giac Luong pagoda was first constructed in Con Be, Hien Luong village by Mrs. Hoang Thi Phieu and village's families. Then, the pagoda was moved to today position.
The rectangle-shaped pagoda faces the south. It has 2 compartments and 4 wings. Its length and width are 14,60m and 11,48m, respectively. The entire pagoda area is surrounded by wall which is 79m long, 1,20m high and 0,50m thick. Its three-entrance gate is much bigger than those found in other pagodas in the province. The pagoda is devoted to worship 7 Buddha statues, Quan Cong, Quang Binh and Chau Xuong.
At the middle of the pagoda stands the giant bell cast in 1819. The names of talented blacksmiths, mandarins and people who made donation to casting the bell and renovating the pagoda were carved on the bell. In the pagoda area also locate shrines worshiping village founders, General Tran Quy Cong and Duong Dai Lang.
Giac Luong contributes to studying the formation history of Hue pagoda architecture in Vietnam Buddhist architecture. It was recognized as the national relic of architecture and art on Decision No.776-QD/BT on June 23rd, 1992 of the Ministry of Culture, Information and Sports (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism today).
