(TTH Portals) - At the invitation of the Director of UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee, a delegation from Thua Thien Hue province led by Vice Permanent Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh attended the 46th session of UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee held at Bharat Mandapam International Exhibition and Convention Centre (IECC), New Delhi, India from July 20 to July 26, 2023.
Thua Thien Hue delegation attended the event to update new policies adopted by UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee at the 46th session of UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee on World Heritage Convention 1972 – the protection of the world cultural and natural heritages so as to instruct relevant bodies to conserve and promote world cultural heritages in Thua Thien Hue province. The province will widely introduce Hue cultural heritages, destinations, features of Hue ancient city, places of interest and global values of Hue Monuments Complex; show the contribution of Thua Thien Hue to Vietnam delegation regarding to sessions of World Heritage Committee in particular as well as the role and responsibility of Vietnam in cooperative mechanism with UNESCO in general. At the same time, commitments made with UNESCO in managing, protecting and promoting cultural heritages will be seriously carried out so that solutions on implementing and promoting Vietnam-UNESCO cooperative relation are specified.
The 46th session of UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee takes place from July 21 to July 31, 2023. This session is considered as the most important and concerned by international publicity as participants will consider recognizing new world heritages, discuss the protection of UNESCO-recognized world heritages and discuss the draft on modifying the instruction on implementing UNESCO Convention 1972.
On this occasion, Vice Permanent Chairman Nguyen Thanh Binh and delegates from Thua Thien Hue province had a meeting with Mr. Lazare Eloundou Assomo – the Director of World Heritage Committee.
At the meeting, Vice Permanent Chairman Nguyen Thanh Binh extended sincere thank to UNESCO for having concerned and supported Thua Thien Hue province in cultural heritage conservation. The provincial leader informed that the province has always paid attention to conserving Hue cultural heritages, ensured the harmony between conservation and sustainable development as well as local community’s benefits. The province expected to become a centrally managed city featuring culture, heritage, ecology, scenery, environmental friendliness and smart operation on the basis of conserving, promoting local heritages and Hue cultural identity. Vice Permanent Chairman Nguyen Thanh Binh hoped that UNESCO would continue to accompany and provide technical support to Thua Thien Hue during conserving and developing heritages sustainably.
