(TTH Portals) - On June 8, 2024, the Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Phuong received Mr. Jaya Ratman, the Ambassador of Singapore to Vietnam.
At the meeting, H.E. Ambassador Jaya Ratnam extended his pleasure and sincere thank to Thua Thien Hue province for having invited him to Hue Festival 2024 and the warm welcome. H.E. Ambassador Jaya Ratnam affirmed that Vietnam - Singapore relation has been unceasingly tightened, establishing the comprehensive strategic partnership. Currently, Singaporean businesses would like to learn about investment environment in Thua Thien Hue province and to cooperate in the near future.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman Nguyen Van Phuong expressed his pleasure to welcome the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Singapore to Vietnam on Hue International Arts Festival Week 2024. On this occasion, the leader of Thua Thien Hue province briefly introduced local potentials, strengths, socio-economic achievements and development in the coming time.
Chairman Nguyen Van Phuong kindly informed that Singapore is one of the potential markets of local tourism. In 2022, the total number of Singaporean tourist visiting Thua Thien Hue province was 6.337 (accounting for 4% of international tourists). That figure for 2023 was 10.129 (2% of international tourists). In the first five months of 2024, there were 4.325 turns of tourists coming to the province (1.5% of international tourists).
The leader of Thua Thien Hue province also provided information regarding to industrial park projects and hoped to be supported by the Ambassador to make progress in economic development.
As the center for education and health care, Hue is home to famous universities and health care facilities. Therefore, Chairman Nguyen Van Phuong expected to observe education-related cooperation established between Thua Thien Hue province and Singapore.
