As recorded, La Chu village dates back 630 years. Its hall and pagoda were constructed when the village was founded. Therefore, La Chu hall and pagoda witnessed ups and downs in Thuan Hoa in particular and the entire country in general. Particularly, La Chu pagoda associated with historical figures in the heroic period.
At present, a number of artefacts whose values are recognized in both culture and history aspects are being stored at La Chu hall and village. They are brass bell and brass urn which were cast under the rule of Emperor Quang Trung in 1791 and the three life-size statues made from jackfruit wood, etc. The value of brass bell is recognized not only in fine-arts, but also history. It is the subject to several studies on religion policy under the rule of Emperor Quang Trung.
Besides, La Chu hall and pagoda play an important role in local emotional life. It is the place where two main ceremonies are yearly held in the spring and autumn. On these occasion, villagers far and near gather, commemorate ancestors, find the way to conserve local tradition as well as together discuss about important affairs.
Although La Chu village hall and pagoda are not very big, they have been existed for so long in the history, religion and culture of those first arrivals in Thuan Hoa. Over ups and downs, La Chu village hall, pagoda, relevant relics and festivities are being conserved.
La Chu hall and pagoda was recognized as a province-level cultural historical relic by the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue province on Decision 2343/QD-UBND dated October 17, 2007.
