(TTH Portal) - On December 12, 2024, the Military Command, Border Guard Command of Thua Thien Hue province together with Salavan’s Military Command and Sekong’s Military Command held a border friendship exchange themed “Vietnam - Laos border friendship” to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Vietnam People’s Army (22/12/1944 - 22/12/2024) and the 35th anniversary of People’s Defense day 22/12/1989 - 22/12/2024). The Standing member of the Party Committee, Vice Permanent Chairman of the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue province Nguyen Thanh Binh; leaders of Thua Thien Hue Military Command, Border Guard Command; leaders of the Military Command of Salavan and Sekong province attended the event.
In the past time, the traditional cooperative and friendly relation, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation among Thua Thien Hue, Salavan and Sekong province have unceasingly developed, making important contribution to strengthening the fruitful Vietnam – Laos relation. Particularly, Thua Thien Hue and the two foreign provinces have always respected, accelerated and developed the relation among armed forces. Every year, sides closely cooperate to settle military and national defense affairs; well adopt Vietnam - Laos border protocol, agreements on border and border gate management; pay visits to forces and people living in the border area; maintain regular and irregular meetings; conduct joint patrol; add and preserve border marker in Vietnam - Laos border; struggle against criminals and timely solve problems arose in the border area; collaborate in searching and gathering the remaining of martyrs, experts and Vietnamese voluntary soldiers who lost their lives in Laos.
Thua Thien Hue has supported Laos in training border managers, tightening the bilateral relation. The Vietnam - Laos border crossing Thua Thien Hue, Salavan and Sekong province have also been protected. In addition, a peaceful, stable, friendly, cooperative and comprehensively developed border is established.
Delegates attend the event
Speaking at the event, Vice Permanent Chairman Nguyen Thanh Binh emphasized that the entire Party, people and soldiers of Thua Thien Hue province have stayed united, made effort and commitment to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress, the Resolution of the 16th provincial Party Committee Congress, the Resolution No. 54-NQ/TW dated December 10, 2019 of the Secretary Board on developing Thua Thien Hue to 2030 and vision to 2045. So far, the province has obtained encouraging results in all fields.
On November 30, 2024, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam officially approved the Resolution on the establishment of centrally-governed Hue city. From January 1, 2025, Thua Thien Hue is a centrally-governed city known as Hue city. This is the long-term effort made by the Party Committee, authority and people of Thua Thien Hue province.
Vice Permanent Chairman Nguyen Thanh Binh emphasized that the teaching of President Ho Chi Minh is always in the mind of Vietnamese in general as well as officers, people and armed forces of Thua Thien province in particular. Despite difficulties, officers, people and armed forces of Thua Thien Hue province have also determined to maintain and promote the special relation of the people, Party Committee, State of the two countries in general and armed forces in particular.
Today event is believed to be an occasion for the two sides to realize the role and importance of national defense and the contribution of armed forces in developing a peaceful, stable, cooperative and developed Vietnam - Lao border; make contribution to accelerating the special solidarity and friendship; maintain a peaceful, stable and developed environment in the region and the world. Results obtained in the past time and the collaboration in today event will leave good impression, start a new chapter in national defense collaboration, leave a profound impression about friendship and solidarity between the army and people of the two countries.
Vice Permanent Chairman Nguyen Thanh Binh wished bilateral friendship and special cooperation would be sustainable forever. In addition, the special friendly and cooperative relation between Thua Thien Hue, Salavan and Sekong will unceasingly develop.
At the meeting
Armed forces of the two sides reviewed the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos as well as results obtained in managing and protecting the border area in the past time. The two parties exchanged information, lessons learned in managing and protecting the border area, maintaining political security and social order; popularized, educated and raised the awareness of officers, soldiers and people of the friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos; widely spread and encourage people to strictly comply with agreements and regulations on border and border gate protection signed by the two countries; ensured and promoted political reliability, solidarity and friendship; accelerate the cooperation of the border protection forces; contribute to a peaceful, friendly, stable, cooperative and developed border.
On this occasion, Border Guard Command, Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank and Viettel Hue presented 40 gifts to families from disadvantaged background in Salavan province, Sekong province (Laos) and A Luoi district with the total value of VND 40 million (photo below).
