Bao La bamboo knitting craft village (Bao La - Duc Nhuan hamlet, Quang Phu commune, Quang Dien district, Thua Thien Hue province) was recently recognized as a tourism site on Decision No. 1008/QD-UBND issued on May 16, 2023.
Situated about 2km away from Huong Tra town and 12km from Hue city, Bao La bamboo knitting craft village is known for making bamboo appliances. Having finished harvesting crops, villagers often start to practice their traditional craft, bamboo knitting. Lo O, a type of bamboo with long straight internodes is used. Visitors may shop for decorative objects and souvenirs or make a bamboo knitting product by themselves.
About 1km away from the cooperatives locates the place where the successful movie called “Mat biec” (dreamy eyes) was filmed. Visitors may together with locals grow flowers, peanut, corn or take photo. A number of other relics can be found not too far from the cooperatives, for example Dang Huu Pho’s tomb and shrine – a national historical relic, Thien Khanh - a historical relic, Tran Dinh Ba’s tomb – a provincial historical relic, Ha Lang pagoda, Bac Vong Tay village hall, Bao La village hall, Bac Vong Residence and Ba To shrine.
