(TTH Portals) - On September 13, 2023, the standing member of the provincial Party Committee, Vice Permanent Chairman of the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue province Nguyen Thanh Binh had a courtesy meeting with Ms. Aler Grubbs, the Director of U.S Agency for International Development (USAID) Vietnam on her business trip to Thua Thien Hue province. Leaders of relevant departments and agencies attended the meeting.
At the meeting, the standing member of the provincial Party Committee, Vice Permanent Chairman of the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue province Nguyen Thanh Binh extended his pleasure to welcome Ms. Aler Grubbs, the Director of U.S Agency for International Development (USAID) Vietnam. The provincial leader extended sincere gratitude to USAID for cooperative projects and support given to the province in the past time. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh emphasized that Thua Thien Hue province has always creates favorable condition for USAID to organize activities in the province to meet socio-economic development demand and ensure social security.
Vice Permanent Chairman hoped that USAID will accelerate cooperation in various fields such as culture, health care, education, environment, supporting people with disability, the vulnerable and those who are exposure to Agent Orange, bio-diversity conservation, dealing with climate change, enhancing the capacity of medium-sized and small business for integration, economic development, improving investment environment and business in the province.
Vice Permanent Chairman Nguyen Thanh Binh made commitment to create favorable condition, tightly cooperate with USAID to organize programs and make contribution to Vietnam - USA fruitful relation. In addition, Thua Thien Hue province will tightly cooperate with USAID in climate change response, environment protection, reducing plastic wastes, green house emission and recycling models. The provincial leader hoped that Ms. Aler Grubbs and the delegation will experience the friendly, green - clean - bright city as Thua Thien Hue province is on its way to become a centrally-managed city.
Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Aler Grubbs extended sincere thanks to the leader of the province, departments and agencies for the warm welcome. As informed by Ms. Aler Grubbs, USAID is a US government agency which is in charged of adopting and supporting US government’s policies in programs such as economic growth, trade, education, environment, climate change, enhancing the capacity of people with disability and the vulnerable. In the past time, USAID has helped Thua Thien Hue carried out projects related to health care, supporting people with disability, minimizing environmental impact, dealing with climate change and biodiversity conservation.
In the time to come, the Director of USAID Vietnam hoped to cooperate and carry out activities to directly enhance the capacity of people with disability, let the voice of people with disability across the province be heard and bring them opportunity to join in community activities. At the same time, projects on reducing environmental impacts, dealing with climate change, biodiversity conservation and clean city - blue ocean will also be carried out. USAID Director Aler Grubbs was impressed by natural beauty and the development of Thua Thien Hue in the past time. She expected the two parties to accelerate cooperative relation in various fields in the coming time.
