On July 2nd, 2020, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province Nguyen Van Phuong chaired a meeting with Vietnam National Mine Action Center (VNMAC) and United Nation Development Program Vietnam (UNDP Vietnam). Leader representatives of relevant departments and agencies also attended at the meeting.

According to the Vice Director General of VNMAC Nguyen Van Nghiep, the Center was cooperating with UNDP Vietnam to survey and formulate the proposal for South Korean-sponsored non-refundable project entitled "Mine action in Vietnam for resistant and sustainably developed communities". Thua Thien Hue is appropriate with project's objective as it is one of the localities affected by war.

To provide a foundation for the proposal, at the meeting, departments and agencies exchanged information regarding to local socio-economic development plan and direction; mine-contaminated areas and clearance-needed areas; local mine action; the progress of new rural development programs; environment and natural disaster.

On behalf of provincial leaders, Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Phuong extended his sincere thank to VNMAC and UNDP Vietnam for conducting the survey in Thua Thien Hue province. Vice Chairman believed that it was a very meaningful and humane project.

The Department of Foreign Affairs was assigned to cooperate and provide information. Besides, the province would regularly monitor and instruct relevant units to cooperate with VNMAC and UNDP Vietnam.
