(TTH Portals) - On May 9, 2024, the international press conference was co-organized by the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue province, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Information and Communications to introduce Hue Festival 2024 and Hue International Art Festival 2024 (June 7 to June 12, 2024).

H.E. Mr. Olivier Brochet, the Ambassador of the Republic of France in Vietnam; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ministry Nguyen Minh Hang; Deputy Minister of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong; Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee cum Chairman of the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue province Nguyen Van Phuong; the Standing member of the provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee of Nguyen Thanh Binh chaired the event. The representatives of relevant departments and agencies; the embassies of countries in Vietnam; the representative of sponsors, domestic and foreign press agencies made it to the meeting.

Held from June 7 to June 12, 2024, Hue International Art Festival 2024 will bring together main programs such as Hue Festival 2024 Opening ceremony (8:00 PM, June 7, 2024, Kien Trung palace, Hue Imperial Citadel); “Sac mau van hoa” (cultural colors) street festival (to be held from June 8 to June 10, 2024, Hue city); performances of domestic and international art troupes (from June 8 to June 11, 2024, at Quoc Hoc stage and 3/2 Park); “Doi thoai Trinh Cong Son - Gui chut gi rat Hue” music program (8:00 PM, June 9, Kien Trung Palace, Hue Imperial Citadel); light festival (from June 6 to June 12, 2024 at Thai Binh Pavilion and Thieu Phuong garden, Hue Imperial Citadel) and closing program (8:00 PM, June 12, Kien Trung Palace, Hue Imperial Citadel).

So far, Hue Festival 2024 attracted 12 art troupes dispatched from 7 countries i.e. Xuan Le dancer, Cergy Hiphop dance crew, Merchem (Belgium), Double Impro (Wallonie-Bruxelles, Belgium), Flamenco Hispano music band (Spain), Eisa Urakaji drum dance art troupe (Japan), Lanxi Li Yu Drama Research Institute (China), Pianist Steve Barakatt (Canada), Koninklijke Steltenlopers Merchtem-Belgium Stilt walkers, Sae Nyuk traditional art delegation, Yangpyeong Culture and Art Association (South Korea), etc.

The Organizer of Hue Festival 2024 kindly informed that, Hue International Art Festival is expected to bring visitors a new, unique experience of culture, history and art. It is also a chance for international and domestic artists to meet and exchange. On this occasion, royal and traditional music are introduced. High-quality traditional and con-temporary art programs performed by 8 countries across continents will take place at Kien Trung Palace, Thai Binh Pavilion, Thieu Phuong Garden (Hue Imperial Citadel), Quoc Hoc stage, 3/2 Park and public stages across the province.

Within the framework of the festival week, other programs such as lantern floating, Hue vegetarian festival and “Song nuoc Tam Giang” festival will bring spectacular and unique events.

Speaking at the press conference, Chairman Nguyen Van Phuong kindly informed that Hue Festival has been introduced for 24 years and become a national event known world wide. Its contribution in showcasing Hue cultural quintesence and Hue as a beautiful, safe and friendly destination were recognized.

“On May 8, 2024, bas-reliefs on the Nine Bronze Urns in Hue Imperial Palace recognized as the world documentary heritage by the Memory of the World Committee for Asia and the Pacific. So far, 10 Vietnamese heritages were recognized as world documentary heritages. Hue is home to four heritages, namely Wooblocks of Nguyen Dynasty (2009), royal documents of Nguyen dynasty (2014), royal literature on Hue royal architecture (2016), the bas-reliefs on the Nine Bronze Urns in Hue Imperial Palace (2024). In addition, Hue possesses and co-possesses 8 tangible, intangible and memory cultural heritages recognized by UNESCO.

Particularly, Hue International Art Festival 2024 focuses on exploting architectures in Hue Imperial Citadel. Kien Trung Palace, the most unique architecture recently renovated with beautiful architecture, scenery and decoration will be the main stage for opening program, Trinh Cong Son music night, closing program and so forth. Thanks to modern technology, Kien Trung Palace is the place where creative ideas are turned into reality. The 3-Mapping light festival which is sponsored by the Republic of France will take place in Thieu Phuong garden. The program will create a multidimentional space and bring visitors a memorable experience.

The festival aims to maintain tradition, organize the festival in a new way, gather typical cultural features of regions and across the country as well as exchange in global scope and encourage public involvement. Hue Festival 2024 will continue to show the province’s efforts to become a featured festival city in Vietnam, a center for culture and tourism, successfully implement Resolution 54-NQ/TW of the Politburo (to develop Thua Thien Hue into a centrally managed city featuring culture, heritage, landscape, environmental friendliness and smart operation on the basis of conserving and promoting values of Hue heritages and Hue cultural identity).
