    Thanks to its geographical position, Huong Thuy town is appropriate for urban development and economic exchange. The town borders with Phu Loc and Phu Vang district to the east, Hue city and Huong Tra town to the west, Phu Vang district to the north, Nam Dong and Phu Loc district to the south.

    According to Thua Thien Hue Statistical Yearbook 2018, Hue city has 27 wards, the area of 71,7km2, population of 358.754 people and the population density of 5.076 people/ km2. The city borders with Huong Tra town and Quang Dien district to the north, Huong Thuy town to the west and the south, Phu Vang district to the east. Hue city is the first-class provincially-managed city recognized in Vietnam (2005).

    Pursuant to Resolution No. 99 of the Government, Huong Tra town was established on November 15th, 2011. The town has 15 administrative units including 7 wards and 8 communes, the total area of 517,1 ha and population of 117.308 (according to Thua Thien Hue Statistical Yearbook 2018). Located in a strategic position in economy, politics and cultural exchange, Huong Tra has a continuous traffic system including National Road 1A, North-South Railway, the 19km long bypass in the west of Hue city, National Road 49A, waterway on the Huong River, Bo River and Tam Giang lagoon.

    According to Thua Thien Hue Statistical Yearbook 2018, Quang Dien district has the total area of 163 km2, the population of 84.281 people and pupulation density of 517 people/km2. In the district, there are 11 administrative units including Sia townlet and communes namely Quang An, Quang Thanh, Quang Phuoc, Quang Tho, Quang Vinh, Quang Thai, Quang Loi, Quang Ngan, Quang Cong and Quang Phu.

    Nam Dong is a mountainous district, about 50km to the southwest of Hue city. Established in October 1990, the locality has the area of 647,78 km2, accounting for 12,87% of Thua Thien Hue province. Located in a strategic position with forests, caves, mountains and streams, Nam Dong was selected as the revolutionary base area during the resistance against French Colonialism and American empire.

    A Luoi is a mountainous district in the west of Thua Thien Hue province. Established in March 1976, A Luoi covers the area of 1.225,21 km2. According to Thua Thien Hue Statistical Yearbook 2018, the district has the population of 49,224 people, 17 communes and 1 townlet. Up to 80% of locals are people from minority ethnic groups such as Pa Ko, Ta Oi, Ka Tu, Pa Hy, etc.

    Phu Vang has the total area of 278,24 km2, 17 communes and 2 townlets (according to the statistical yearbook 2018). The district borders with Huong Tra town to the north, Huong Thuy town and Hue city to the west, Phu Loc district to the south and the East Sea to the east. National road 49A, 49B, province-level roads, namely 10A, 10B, 10C, etc formed an efficient transportation system.

    Located in the north of Thua Thien Hue province, about 30km from Hue city center, Phong Dien district has the population of 93.624 and the area of 948,23 km2 (according to Thua Thien Hue statistical yearbook 2018). Totally, there are 16 commune-level units and 136 hamlets including 02 hamlets of ethnic minority groups. Phong Dien townlet, which is the center for administration, economy, culture and society of the district, is expected to become the urban center in the north of Thua Thien Hue province. Eco-city is anticipated to be developed together with Phong Dien natural reserve in the west of national road 1A.
