The People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province recently passed Decision No. 55/QD-UBND on recognizing Duc Buu, where Hue traditional dumplings (beo, nam and loc) are made, as province's traditional craft village. This Decision is valid from January 11th, 2021.

Located in Huong So ward, Hue city, Duc Buu village has made traditional dumplings since the early 19th century. Over 150 years, this craft has been a part of local cultural life.

Making these traditional hand-made dishes, artisans play a key role from preparation to final stage. Therefore, they are required to be skillful and knowledgeable. Only the best ingredients are used. Despite being made from rustic materials, each dumpling shows the affection of artisans and national cultural identity. Over time, dumplings have been changed to meet local demands and become specialties of Hue city in general and Huong So ward in particular.

Up to 54 households living in Duc Buu are now making traditional dumplings, accounting for 27%. This craft has created stable job and the income of VND 4.000.000 - 5.000.000 a month.
