The first container ship unloaded at Chan May port
On September 9th 2022, Deltic Dolphin, a vessel of Voyager Logistics SDN BHD (Malaysia) which unloaded and transported 120 SOC containers from Sibu (Malaysia) to Chan May port (Vietnam) and Pontianak (Indonesia) arrived at Chan May port.

It is the first time that Chan May port has welcomed a foreign container ship. This also means that container-related services are officially exploited at the port in accordance with the master plan of Vietnam port system in 2021-2030 stage, vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister.

Chan May port is a natural deep water port which is capable of receiving large ships and potentially becomes a large modern port. At present, Chan May port has every reasons to become the first deep water port which is capable of receiving and loading domestic and foreign container ship in North Central Vietnam.

As informed by the Director General of Chan May port Huynh Van Toan, there are 2 stations currently exploited in Chan May port with the total length of 760m and safety-ensured depth from -9,4m to -12,5m. The first station is 480m while the second is 280m long.

"Every year, Chan May port unloads about 3,5 million tons of bulk cargo such as coal, cement, clinker cement, wood chip, sand, cassava flour, etc. Chan May port is capable of receiving 50.000 DWT ship, container ship whose deadweight tonnage is from 35.000 DWT to 2.600 TEU, passenger ship whose length is up to 362m and gross register tonnage is 225 or 282 GRT. The port meets requirements for containers and potentially becomes the largest and newest cruise port in the world, Mr. Huynh Van Toan informed.
