Provincial leader presents flags to teams attending the festival
(TTH Portals) - On May 15th 2024, the 15th culture, sport and tourism festival for ethnic groups 2024 was organized at A Luoi central square (A Luoi district) by Culture and Sports Department, the People's Committee of A Luoi district and Ethnic Affairs Commission. The Standing member of the provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee of Nguyen Thanh Binh; the Standing member of the provincial Party Committee, Head of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Thua Thien Hue province Nguyen Nam Tien; the Standing member of the provincial Party Committee, Head of Propaganda Commission Hoang Khanh Hung; Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Council Nguyen Thi Ai Van and the representatives of departments, agencies of A Luoi district and locals attended the opening ceremony.

Organized from May 14 to May 16, 2024, the festival brings unique activities such as mass art festival with traditional music, folk music and costumes; sport competition (football, volleyball, stick-pushing, cross-shooting and tug of war); eco-tourism and community-tourism tours in A Luoi district; culinary festival, culinary contest, mountain Gods offering ceremony of Co Tu minority group and so forth.

This year festival takes place on the 134th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's (May 19th, 1890 - May 19th, 2024) occasion. The event attracted 450 participants who are artists, background actors, actresses, athletes, border guard soldiers and those from ethnic minority groups such as Pa Ko, Pa Hy, Co Tu, Ta Oi, etc coming from Nam Dong, A Luoi, Phong Dien, Phu Loc district and Huong Tra town.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Director of Culture and Sports Department Phan Thanh Hai emphasized that Thua Thien Hue culture, sport and tourism festival for ethnic groups continues to implement the 9th Central resolution (tenure XI) on "Xay dung va phat trien van hoa, con nguoi Viet Nam dap ung yeu cau phat trien ben vung dat nuoc" (developing culture and Vietnamese people in accordance with national sustainable development demand), promote "toan dan doan ket xay dung doi song van hoa" (the entire people unite to develop a cultured life) movement, develop new rural areas and "toan dan ren luyen than the theo guong Bac Ho vi dai" (the entire people physically practice, following the great example of Uncle Ho) campaign. In addition, the festival contributes to the success of Resolution 54-NQ/TW dated December 10th, 2019 of the Politburo on developing Thua Thien Hue to 2030 and vision to 2045. This traditional event is regularly held in Nam Dong and A Luoi district as a part of the four-season festival 2024,

The festival helps further strengthen the understanding, solidarity and cultural exchange among ethnic groups. On this basis, the unique culture of people from ethnic groups are introduced, contributing to conserving cultural values of people living in mountainous areas. Through the system of historic relics, community tourism, eco-tourism, culinary culture, crafted products, traditional festivities of people from ethnic groups, etc, local tourism potentials are shown.

Well-prepared performances of ethnic minority groups

At the event, units bring performances such as folk music, traditional dance and costumes.  Besides, they competed in traditional sports such as football, volleyball, stick-pushing, cross-shooting and tug of war. In addition to community tours and traditional festivals, crafted products of ethnic minority groups as well as traditional crafts such as deng weaving and bamboo knitting are also introduced.

The 15th Thua Thien Hue culture, sport and tourism festival for ethnic groups 2024 also brings together exhibitions showcasing local achievements in economy, culture, social affairs, particularly daily life of mountainous ethnic groups; uncle Ho (Ho Chi Minh museum), Vietnamese folk paintings (Hue Fine Arts Museum) and introduce books (Thua Thien Hue General Library) are organized. A mobile film screening event will also be held in A Luoi's Culture - Cinema Center, etc.

Folk music performances, traditional musical instruments and unique costumes of ethnic minority groups at the festival etc reflect the solidarity and affections.
