(Thua Thien Hue Portals) - On December 1st, 2022, the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province Hoang Hai Minh received delegates from Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Hanoi city. The delegation was making a survey on “Hop tac ky thuat de quy hoach phat trien ve phuc hoi lu lut va xay dung Quy hoach tong the ve phong chong thien tai o mien Trung Vietnam” (Technical cooperation for flood recovery development plan and making disaster prevention master plan in Central Vietnam) project.
Vice Chairman Hoang Hai Minh acknowledged and highly appreciated the support of Japanese government, citizens, JICA and Japanese partners in the past time. JICA has helped Thua Thien Hue province implement the first stage (2009-2012) and second stage (2013-2016) of the “disaster resilient society in Vietnam” project and the project for emergency reservoir operation and effective flood management using water related disaster management information system from 2017 to 2023. These have brought practical results.
Regards to “Technical cooperation for flood recovery development planning and making disaster prevention master plan in Central Vietnam” project, Vice Chairman kindly informed that Agriculture and Rural Development Department, Planning and Investment Department, Finance Department consulted procedure related to receiving technical support project. Departments are required to cooperate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and JICA to make preparation for projects in Thua Thien Hue province.

The two sides exchanged and identified problems related to local development, problems faced in urban and rural development; how flood management plans are being controlled and implemented; problems existing in current flood management plan.
Thua Thien Hue province expected JICA to continue to provide technical support after the project for emergency reservoir operation and effective flood management using water related disaster management information system is transfered; assist early flood detectation system in down streaming area connected with Hue-S intelligent operation system; invest in reservoirs monitoring and controlling system with reservoir operation project; invest in early flood detectation system such as smart flood detectation tower; smart radio.
