Deputy Permanent Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Phan Ngoc Tho kicks off the festival
(TTH Portals) - Marking the 134th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2024), Duong No village’s festival themed “Hanh trinh thang Nam” (the May journey) was co-held at Duong No village hall (Phu Duong commune, Hue city) by Thua Thien Hue Department of Culture and Sport and relevant units. The Deputy Permanent Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Phan Ngoc Tho; the Standing member of the provincial Party Committee, Vice Permanent Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee of Nguyen Thanh Binh; Standing members of the provincial Party Committee; the representatives of departments, agencies, tourists and villagers attended the event.

The festival was held on the 134th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (1890 - 2024) to pay tribute to his sacrifice and dedication.
Duong No village’s festival will take place at Duong No village hall (Phu Duong commune, Hue city) from May 18 to May 20, 2024. A number of activities will be held such as “Thang nam nho Bac” art program, lotus flower and President Ho Chi Minh’s portrait procession from Duong No village hall to Uncle Ho Memorial House, flower and incense offering ceremony to president Ho Chi Minh, photo exhibition “Net dep Di san Ho Chi Minh” (the beauty of Ho Chi Minh’s relics), Vietnamese traditional painting exhibition, boat race on the Pho Loi river, etc. Besides, there are public cultural activities such as paper flower making, printing Sinh village’s drawing, local cuisine, “bai choi” singing, folk games, Hue singing and bolero program, etc.

Delegates attend the opening program of Duong No village’s festival

Speaking at the opening program, the Director of Department of Culture and Sport Phan Thanh Hai emphasized that Duong No village is an unreplaceable spot in the career of the Vietnamese hero, the cultural figure, President Ho Chi Minh. The village with rich cultural identity and revolutionary tradition witnessed the childhood of President Ho Chi Minh while he was studying, joining in traditional cultural activities at the village hall, playing by the Pho Loi river and mingling in local rustic life.

During the time that President Ho Chi Minh lived in the village, Hue’s land and people contributed to forming a patriotic, intellectual and whole-hearted Nguyen Tat Thanh. His love for the home village and villagers were turned into a strong desire for saving the country and countrymen.

According to Director Phan Thanh Hai, Duong No village is home to up to 4 out of 9 President Ho Chi Minh relics in Thua Thien Hue province. Two of them are national special relics. This is not only the honor but also the advantage of Duong No village in developing local cultual potentials.

Therefore, Duong No village festival is a special journey back to President Ho Chi Minh’s relic. It contributes to promote community connection, raises public awareness of conserving and promoting heritage values as well as tourism development.


The opening program

The festival is aimed to introduce both spiritual and material values of President Ho Chi Minh’s relics located in Thua Thien Hue province, create unique cultural product,  pay tribute to the sacrifice and devotion of President to the entire country and its people, strengthen the connection between relics and the community; raise public awareness of conserving and promoting heritages and tourism development.
