On March 22, 2023, Mr. Phan Thien Dinh - the standing member of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People’s Council of Hue city had a meeting with a delegation from Shizuoka city (Japan) headed by Mr. Mochizuki Toshiaki, chairman of Shizuoka’s city Council. The standing member of Hue city’s Party Committee, Vice Chairman of Hue city’s People’s Council Le Thi Thanh Binh; Vice Chairman of Hue city’s People’s Committee Truong Dinh Hanh attended the meeting.
Shizuoka is one of the 13 centrally-managed cities with developed industry, trade, tourism, services and education. In May 2005, Hue and Shizuoka signed an agreement on opening up opportunities for exchanging teachers, administrative officials, students and education-related information. Since 2005, Shizuoka has organized engineer training course, offered free Japanese training in Viet - Nhat Exchange Center, received students joining in a short-term visit to Shizuoka city and sent delegations to Hue. Lions Club Shizuoka introduced companies to learn more about Hue investment environment while Shizuoko University granted scholarships to 20 excellent Hue students to study in Shizuoka.
At the meeting, Mr. Phan Thien Dinh highly appreciated the cooperative relation and support given by Shizuoka in the past time. The city has brought an approach to Japanese learning, better investment opportunities and chances to visit and understand more about Japan and its people. In the coming time, Hue city expected to maintain and promote cooperative relation in culture, education and training programs including teacher exchange, student exchange and administrative official exchange. At the same time, the city would focus on economic development and fields that both cities are interested in. The provincial leader hoped that Shizuoka city would provide further support to accelerate trade and cultural exchange.
Hue city expected Shizuoka’s businesses to take part in coming Hue Traditional Crafts Festival 2023. This would strengthen the bilateral friendly relation and contribute to the success of the festival as well as local socio-economic development. Many activities will be held on the 50th anniversary of Japan - Vietnam diplomatic relation.
