According to Thua Thien Hue Department of Tourism, the number of tourist coming to Thua Thien Hue on new year holiday (December 31, 2022 to January 2nd, 2023) was 20.500 including 6.720 foreigners. The total revenue earned was about VND 43 billion. The room booking capacity was 49%. It was a year-on-year increase of 5,85 times.
On this occasion, “Hue Countdown 2023” program was held on December 31, attracting nearly 15.000 participants. On January 1, 2023, calendar book distribution ceremony which was held under Nguyen dynasty was replicated. On this occasion, Hue Festival 2023 programs were announced. Hue Monuments Conservation Center welcomed first tourists visiting Hue monuments. As recorded, there are 5.420 visitors visiting Hue monuments on New Year Eve. A ceremony was co-held by Thua Thien Hue Department of Tourism, Phu Bai International Airport, Middle Airport Authority and Vietnam Airlines to receive the first tourists to Thua Thien Hue by air in 2023. On the first day of 2023, art performances were performed at Imperial City pedestrian street, attracting thousands of participants.
As informed by Department of Tourism, the province will invest in tourism and services; make effort to receive about 3 - 3,5 million turns of tourists including 70-80% domestic tourists. The total revenue from tourism is expected to be about VND 6.000 to 7.000 billion.
Tourists coming to Hue on New Year Eve 2023.
In 2023, the province will focus on diversifying its strong service sectors and creating new distinctive features in adition to culture - heritage products such as wellness tourism, spiritual tourism, rural, festivals such as hot air balloon festival, gastronomy festival, sport, music, etc; adopt measures to promote tourism, especially digital solutions and tourism promotion program (incentive policies for MICE and charter tours); accelerate investment progress; promote commercial center, supermarket, shopping center and multi-functional services; exploit new air routes from potential markets; connect travel agents; provide new tours to Central Vietnam in general and Thua Thien Hue in particular.
In 2022, tourism activities were held in a safe and flexible manner. The total turn of visitors to Thua Thien Hue in 2022 was 2,05 million. It was 189% higher to that in 2021. There were 260.000 international tourists. The revenue earned was over VND 4.500 billion.
