Hue Festival 2002, the awaiting cultural event was held in Thua Thien Hue province from May 4th to May 15th, 2002. The second season of Hue Festival was organized in large scope with high quality, contributing to bringing Hue culture to far and near visitors.

During 12 days and nights, visitors had a chance to enjoy outstanding performances from 33 art troupes including 14 troupes from Laos, France, China, Cambodia, South Korea, Japan, Indonesia and Thailand. Hue Festival 2002 brought audiences not only various art programs which were carefully prepared such as the opening program, closing program and Aodai show, but also Hue locals' rustic culture through local market, Bai Choi Singing (Thanh Toan tile-roofed bridge), gastronomy street, Kim Long garden house tour, Gia Hoi ancient street, kite flying festival, etc.

According to statistics, the number of visitors to Hue Festival 2002 and local relics were nearly 1 million and over 150.000 respectively. Particularly, there were 75.000 turns of foreign visitors. The number of tours doubled in comparison with Hue Festival 2000. Of 31 tours, there were many new and appealing trips offered. The event attracted many local, Central and international communication agencies.

The success of Hue Festival 2002 opened up a new direction to conserve and promote local cultural and art values, contributing to the socio-economic development of the province, country and region. The event also made contribution to developing Hue as the city of culture, tourism as well as a featured festival city in Vietnam.
