Le Van Mien (1974-1943) came from Kim The village, Nghi Long commune, Nghi Loc district, Nghe An province. He was the first contemporary oil painter in Vietnam who made great contribution to national art. His well-known paintings such as “Binh van”, “Chan dung cu Tu Men”, etc are now on display at Vietnam Fine Arts Museum.

In his career, Mr. Le Van Mien is an exemplary teacher who trained many talented people such as professor Le Thuoc, Le Thanh Canh, Tran Trong Kim, Le Van Ky, Vo Liem Son, Nguyen Truc, Le Dinh Tham, particularly, Nguyen Tat Thanh, a student of Quoc Hoc Hue High School for the Gifted, a well-known man in culture - President Ho Chi Minh.

It has quite simple architecture. The round-shape tomb is surrounded by wall and simply decorated. There is a stele with Chinese carved on one side and Vietnamese engraved on another.

By conserving and promoting values of Le Van Mien’s tomb means the teacher, a shining example for coming generations.

Historical values, career and contribution of the first scholar cum teacher attracted researchers and generations of artists. Le Van Mien’s tomb was recognized as province-level cultural historic relic by the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue province on Decision No. 4396/QD-UBND on December 21, 2005.
