(TTH Portals) - From May 22 to May 24, 2024, the 13th East Asia Local and Regional Government Congress was held at Xi An city, Shaanxi province, China. A delegation led by the standing member of the provincial Party Committee, Vice Permanent Chairman of the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue province Nguyen Thanh Binh attended activities held within the framework of the Congress. Leaders of the Department of Information and Communication, Healths Department, Foreign Affairs Department, the Office of the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue province and leaders of Hue city joined the delegation.
The 13th East Asia Local and Regional Government Congress held at Xi An city, Shaanxi province, China attracted 16 delegations with 120 delegates from Vietnam, China, South Korea, Japan, etc. During the time frame (from May 22 to May 24, 2024), many activities will be officially held, for example high-level meeting, opening ceremony, plenary session, closing ceremony, thematic workshops called “Phat trien kinh te so” (digital economic development) and “Xuc tien kinh te va thuong mai giua cac thanh pho thanh vien” (promoting economy and commerce between member cities) and promotion activities of member cities.
Delegates from Thua Thien Hue province visited the exhibition held within the Congress. Documents, photos, brochures introducing tourism potentials, heritages, Hue Festival 2024, projects calling for investment in industrial and economic parks of Thua Thien Hue province, Vietnam were on display.

Within the framework of “Phat trien kinh te so” (digital economic development) Congress, the Director of Information and Communication Department Nguyen Xuan Son delivered the presentation on “Xuc tien phat trien nen kinh te so chat luong cao voi yeu to du lieu la cot loi” (promoting high-quality digital economy with data as the core). The Director of Information and Communication Department Nguyen Xuan Son introduced results that Thua Thien Hue province accomplished in digital transformation at local level, national level and international level.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Son hoped to show businesses that Thua Thien Hue province is ready and looking forward to seeing businesses eye and invest in the province. In addition, the province makes commitment to create favorable condition for businesses and promote digital economy in the province.
At “Phat trien kinh te so” (digital economic development) Congress
On this business trip, Vice Permanent Chairman Nguyen Thanh Binh had a high-level meeting with Mr. Yamashita Makoto, the mayor of Nara prefecture - Japan and the delegation from this prefecture.
The leaders of the two localities discussed important results that the two sides achieved during cooperating in the East Asia Local and Regional Government Congress. Mr. Yamashita Makoto highly appreciated the proactive, effective and practical participation of Thua Thien Hue province in the East Asia Local and Regional Government Congress since 2010. According to the leader of Nara, the prefecture is the permanent secretary of the East Asia Local and Regional Government Congress. Held for the first time in 2010, the Congress aims to bring local and regional government an opportunity to discuss about problems faced by the community, policy solutions and mutual understanding via open discussion and solutions. Thua Thien Hue province has joined the Congress since 2011

At the Congress, Thua Thien Hue province’s effective involvement was highly appreciated by the Organizer. Vice Chairman Nguyen Thanh Binh kindly informed Mr. Yamashita Makoto, the Mayor of Nara prefecture that the Prime Minister reached an agreement on allowing Thua Thien Hue province to host the 14th East Asia Local and Regional Government Congress 2025. In this regard, the leader of Thua Thien Hue province hope that Nara prefecture, the Mayor and Secretary board to continue to support Thua Thien Hue province during preparing, organizing the Congress as well as cooperating in further in international cooperative programs, digital economic programs, culture diplomacy, student exchange, etc.

Speaking at the closing session, Vice Permanent Chairman Nguyen Thanh Binh extended sincere thank to Shaanxi province, Xi An city, Nara prefecture and member cities for having created favorable conditions and organized activities to introduce Thua Thien Hue province on the Congress. Thua Thien Hue province and East Asia Local and Regional Government Association will complete procedure to host the 14th East Asia Local and Regional Government Congress 2025 in Hue city to strengthen the effective cooeprative relation in various fields between localities in the region for the development of the East Asia.
