Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted student wins sliver medal in the 35th International Biology Olympiad

Attending the 35th international biology Olympiad held in the Republic of Kazakhstan from July 7 to July 13, 2024, Ho Duc Trung, a student from Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted won sliver medal. This event attracted 320 students from 81 countries, the largest number of countries so far.

Participants competed 6-8 hours a day in 2 days. On the first day, there were 2 theoretical tests while 4 laboratories on molecular biology, biochemistry, animal physiology and anatomy and bioinformatics were available on the second day

This year, 4 candidates from Vietnam excellently won 3 gold medals and 1 sliver medal. Gold medal winners were Dang Tuan Anh, twelfth-grader, Chu Van An High School, Hanoi city;  Nguyen Tien Loc, twelfth-grader, Natural Science High School for the Gifted, Vietnam National University - Hanoi; Nguyen Si Hieu, twelfth-grader, Tran Phu High School for the Gifted, Hai Phong city. Vietnam was ranked 3 out of 81 countries and territories.

Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted won several medals on international olympiad seasons. In 2017, Truong Dong Hung won gold medal. Ho Viet Duc got gold medal in 2020 while Truong Van Quoc Dat won sliver medal in 2022. What special was that Ho Viet Duc and Ho Viet Trung are brothers.
