According to Thua Thien Hue Statistical Yearbook 2023, Quang Dien district has the total area of 162,89 km2, the population of 79.216 people and population density of 486,3 habitants/km2. In the district, there are 11 administrative units including Sia townlet and communes namely Quang An, Quang Thanh, Quang Phuoc, Quang Tho, Quang Vinh, Quang Thai, Quang Loi, Quang Ngan, Quang Cong and Quang Phu.
Quang Dien borders with the East Sea to the north and northeast, Phong Dien district to the west and northwest, Huong Tra townlet to the south. The district is accessible thanks to provincial road 11A, provincial road 4, roads connected with National Road 1A and adjacent areas. As the district is not too far from Hue city center and Hue Monuments Complex, it is capable of becoming a sub-urban economic area which continues the development of Hue urban area.
Quang Dien is a fertile land situated in the downstream of Bo River and the rice-producing area of the province. With 11 km-long coastline, local off-shore fishing is expected to be productive thanks to various kinds of seafood available. The 3.421,15 ha river system and 2.292 ha lagoon enable the locality to develop fishing and breeding fish, lobster, crab, etc.

Being home to many beautiful scenery (lagoon), coastline, historical - cultural relics (Thu Le village communal house, Bac Vong residence, Phuoc Yen residence, Thanh Trung pagoda, Thien Khanh pagoda), revolutionary relics (Nguyen Chi Thanh memorial house, Dang Huu Pho shrine, Nguyen Huu Dat shrine) festivals and traditional handicraft villages, the district has the potential for developing tourism as its important economic sector.

On the basis of the above-mentioned potentials and strengths, Quang Dien is expected to flourish and become an essential part in Thua Thien Hue economy.
